The government of Kumamoto Prefecture will provide financial assistance for staging large entertainment events in the prefecture, including concerts by famous artists and movie production, it was reported. The assistance will not exceed more than 20% of the expenses required to stage the event, and will be set at a maximum of five million yen for concerts. The prefecture wants to use these events to promote itself as a tourist destination. They hope that the ease of access provided by the Kyushu Shinkansen will attract people from outside the prefecture and nearby Asian countries.
