Kyudai Alumni Mathematician Produces Paper Art Using Excel

A mathematical alumnus of Kyushu University creates art using the Excel spreadsheet software. Kentaro Okamoto is a paper-cutting artist who teaches math classes to adults in Tokyo. He inputs formulas in Excel to produce intricate geometric patterns, which he cuts out using a design knife. His works will be exhibited at the 410 Gallery in the Kawabata shopping arcade from Feb. 10, and online courses for Excel art beginners will take place in February and March.
