Beginning in April 2013 electricity power rates for the general public are slated to increase by approximately 10% while corporate rates are set to increase from 10~20%. Recent financial difficulties linked to the shutdown of nuclear power plants and the increased cost of switching to thermopower have been cited as reasons for the hike.
