Kyuden Introduces New AI Named Quun

Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc. (Kyuden) announced on June 6 that a new AI speaker service called Quun will hit the market at the end of July. Customers will be able to hear news reports and operate electrical appliances via the speaker. The voice of well-known artist Sora Amamiya will initially be loaded on to the device. Kyuden will partner with Sony Music Entertainment in autumn to bring a range of animated character voices to the speaker. Kyuden will also collaborate with Secom Co., Ltd. to offer a home security service that will let users watch over their home using Quun. A unique feature is that customers will be able to select the name of the device, which sets the speaker apart from other models currently on the market. Source: Nikkei Shimbun, 6/7/2018
