To prevent heatstroke among the elderly, Kyushu Electric Power Co. (Kyuden) will offer a ¥1,500 discount on electricity bills for households with residents aged 75 and older. The discount applies to electricity usage in August, billed in September, and is available to those on Kyuden’s flexible pricing plans. With temperatures expected to be higher than average this summer, the company aims to encourage the use of air conditioning and fans. This plan, resumed after a three-year hiatus, can be applied for online from July 19 to August 20. Source: Kyushu Electric Power / NHK
