Kyushu’s first authentic Islamic mosque held its opening ceremony on the 12th in Fukuoka City’s Higashi Ward. About 120 people attended, including Muslims living in Kyushu, local residents, and officials affiliated with Buddhist temples. The mosque cost roughly 250 million yen to build, and was paid for contributions from Muslims in Japan and the Red Crescent society of the United Arab Emirates.
