The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport revealed that its annual allocation this year to the Kyushu region for overall project expenditures would, for the present, be 584 billion yen, down roughly half from the previous year’s total of 1.147 trillion yen. The allocation of the remainder has been held back for the present until the situation over the gasoline surtax, which expired at the end of March, is resolved. The allocation for road repair and maintenance was held to a minimum.
