Kyushu Area Birthrate Statistics Released

Four prefectures in Kyushu reported lower birth rates for 2020 compared to the year before. The Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare released a national report on the latest birth numbers, which reflected the impact of the new coronavirus. While the entire country sank to a record-low 840,832 new babies with a birth rate of 1.34, six Kyushu and Okinawa prefectures saw birth rates of 1.60 or higher. Fukuoka Prefecture reported a comparatively low rate of 1.43. Source: Nikkei
