Kyushu Companies and Universities Collaborate to Support Venture Businesses

On Feb. 15, the Council for the Promotion of University-Initiated Ventures in Kyushu, a group composed of members from universities, companies and business federations in Kyushu and Okinawa, was established. Through this organization, participating companies and industry groups will refer management personnel to university-initiated venture businesses and provide entrepreneurship training. They will also offer support to commercialize participating universities’ technologies and inventions and to generate innovation through collaboration. The aim is to promote regional growth by linking the advanced technologies and ideas that researchers and students can ready for entrepreneurship. The Council will also work with local banks to establish an investment fund so it can provide startup funding. This is the first group of its kind to be established in Kyushu. Source: FIBA
