Kyushu Dominates 2017 Wagyu Olympics

Sendai City (Miyagi) recently hosted the seventh Wagyu Olympics. The event, which is staged once every five years, saw 513 wagyu breeders from 39 prefectures compete in a number of different categories. Kyushu performed particularly well at what proved to be the biggest competition to date. Kagoshima took home the overall crown, while Miyazaki, who was aiming to win their third consecutive title, had to settle for second, with Oita finishing in third place. Kagoshima will have the chance to defend their title on their home ground at the next Wagyu Olympics, which is set to take place in 2022. Source: Asahi Shimbun, 9/11/2017
