The Kyushu Economic Research Center revised downward its growth forecast for Kyushu and Okinawa Prefecture for FY 2011 from the 1.5% projected last December to 0.5%. The center said that corporate capital investments and home investments were less than expected due to the impact of the Tohoku earthquake and the appreciation of the yen. Another factor was the deceleration of urban development near the Kyushu Shinkansen line now that full service has begun.
