Kyushu Electric Power announced on June 2 that it will reduce electricity and city gas charges for three months beginning with August billing. The discounts are part of a national support program introduced in response to rising energy costs linked to worsening conditions in the Middle East. For standard household electricity contracts, the reduction will be ¥3.5 per kilowatt-hour in August and October and ¥4.5 per kilowatt-hour in September. Based on the company’s model household, monthly savings are estimated at ¥875 in August and October and ¥1,125 in September. The discounts will be applied automatically to eligible electricity and gas customers, with no application or additional procedures required. The measure is intended to ease household financial burdens during the summer and early autumn period. Source: KBC News / Kyushu Electric Power Co
