Kyushu Electric in Consortium to buy Singapore’s Largest Power Plant


A consortium led by Marubeni and GDF Suez from France, and which includes Kyushu Electric Power, Kansai Electric Power, and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, will buy Senoko Power Ltd., Singapore’s largest power plant, for roughly 274 billion yen. The company is being sold as part of Singapore’s policy to liberalize its energy sector. It is the first time Kyushu Electric will be involved in the purchase of an overseas power company.
