Fukuoka City-based Kyushu Electric Power announced it had joined with a Chinese consulting company to take part in an energy-saving project through an energy services company (ESCo) to provide energy-saving expertise to Chinese companies, receiving part of the energy costs saved as a fee. The first enterprise in which they are involved is the reduction of energy consumption in a Shanghai glass factory. One of Kyushu Electric’s objectives is to apply the results from its efforts in China to collect information on clean development mechanisms for reducing greenhouse gases.
