Kyushu Electric Likely to Avoid Rolling Blackouts

Kyushu Electric Power announced that they anticipate power use during the period from September 3-7, the last week of the period for their requested summer cutbacks, would be stable at 84% – 88%. The situation improved with the operation of the Oi nuclear power plants in the Kansai area, and they expect power reserves to be sufficient even if temperatures are hotter than expected. Absent any trouble with the plants, rolling blackouts will probably be avoided.
