Kyushu Electric Power Restarts Operation of Reactor 4 at Genkai Nuclear Plant

Kyushu Electric Power Company restarted the operation of reactor 4 at the Genkai Nuclear Power Plant in Genkai-cho on February 7. The two reactors are now in operation, which has not happened since January of last year. The reactor 4 was stopped last September for construction work due to the failure to establish a facility for terrorism countermeasures required by the regulations of the nuclear power plant, and was completed about 4 months later than the initial deadline on February 2. The expected improvement in the spare electricity supply capacity, which currently stands at 6.5% this month, is expected to increase by about 0.3 points. Source: NHK
