Kyushu Electric Power will conduct its first trial for supplying electricity through a combination of solar power and wind power stored in lithium ion batteries. The trial will take place in Mishima-mura, Kagoshima Prefecture. In the prefecture’s outlying islands, power is now produced with a small diesel generator. The new system is expected to reduce costs by eliminating the expenses for transporting diesel fuel.
