Kyushu Electric to Revise Fees to Purchase Privately Generated Electricity

Kyushu Electric Power announced a sweeping reevaluation of the fees it pays for privately generated surplus power using solar generators. At present, they have eight different fee schedules to purchase the power under contract, but as of this month they will offer a flat rate of 25 yen per kilowatt hour for all surplus electricity. Their stated objectives are to make their surplus power purchasing policy easier to understand, and by doing so promote the spread of new energy sources.
