The Kyushu Economic Research Center revised upward its forecast for FY 2010 economic growth in Kyushu and Okinawa Prefecture from the 1.3% projection it issued last December to 2.8%. It would be the first positive growth in three years and the first time growth at the 2% level had been achieved since 2000. The projection exceeds the average 1.9% growth forecast for Japan overall by leading think tanks. The center attributes this to a rebound from 2009 and a recovery in production in the manufacturing industry.
