Kyushu Increasingly Popular with Visitors from Hong Kong

More and more Hongkongers are choosing to visit Kyushu when they come to Japan. According to the Japan Tourism Agency, the total number of nights spent in Kyushu in 2016 by visitors from Hong Kong hit a record high of 627,800. This marks a nearly thirteen fold increase over 2010, and the first time that Kyushu has surpassed Hokkaido for the first half of a year. Given its proximity to Hong Kong, low cost airlines, unique tourist attractions, and abundant local specialty foods, Kyushu is becoming increasingly popular with Hongkongers, who tend to be repeat visitors more than tourists from other countries and regions. There is also a large number of Facebook users in Hong Kong, so Fukuoka Prefecture’s Hong Kong Office posts updates about Fukuoka almost daily. Source: fiba.jp
