According to Moji Customs, mikan (mandarin orange) exports from within its jurisdiction reached ¥360 million (+27.3% year-on-year) in 2014, marking the fourth straight year of increases. Although the figure does match the mikan export heyday of the late 80s, it is the highest on record since 2004. The weak yen appears to be the primary driver of mikan demand. By quantity, 60.6% of all Kyushu mikans were exported from Hakata Port, with the primary destinations being Canada (84.6% of total export value), Hong Kong (9%) and Taiwan (3.4%).
