Kyushu Electric Power presented a report to the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry detailing the results of its internal investigation of the circumstances surrounding the bogus e-mails sent by employees urging the restart of the nuclear power plant at Genkai-cho, Saga Prefecture. It also outlined their measures for preventing a recurrence. Officers of the company instructed their subordinates to drum up support for the restart of operations. Company president Toshio Manabe apologized for the incident at a Fukuoka City news conference, and later announced that he will resign to take responsibility.
