Kyushu Recovery Discounts Start in October

The national government will launch the Kyushu Fukko Oen Wari travel-support program across all seven Kyushu prefectures in October. Accommodation and travel prices will be discounted by 60% in Kumamoto and Kagoshima and by 50% in Fukuoka and the other prefectures. The government has allocated about 15.1 billion yen for the program. Kumamoto had recorded more than 140,000 accommodation cancellations worth over 2 billion yen by August 6, while the other six prefectures reported about 174,000 cancellations following the earthquake. Each prefecture will announce its own booking start date and eligible travel period. Source: FNN News / NHK Fukuoka
