Kyushu Region Boosts Semiconductor Industry with New Industrial Park

Kyushu’s Chikuhō area, including Iizuka City, is advancing the development of a large-scale industrial park aimed at attracting semiconductor-related businesses. The initiative focuses on repurposing the 25-hectare site of the closed Kaho coal mine into the new “Iizuka Akane Industrial Park.” The strategic location is central to Fukuoka Prefecture, offering excellent access to Fukuoka and Kitakyushu airports and close proximity to the TSMC plant in Kumamoto Prefecture. Iizuka City plans to complete the project by the 2028 fiscal year, signaling a significant step towards becoming a key player in the semiconductor industry. Source: NHK
