According to the Kyushu District Transport Bureau, 5,006,544 foreign nationals entered Kyushu’s seven prefectures in 2024, a 57% increase from the previous year and the second-highest figure on record after 2018. Standard entries via airports reached an all-time high of 4.26 million, surpassing 2018 levels, while cruise passenger arrivals remained low at 746,025, about half the 2018 figure, due in part to China’s economic slowdown. By country, South Korea topped the list with 2.47 million visitors (up 28% year-on-year), followed by China and Taiwan. Source: Kyushu District Transport Bureau
