With the rapidly deteriorating economic situation, Kyushu universities and junior colleges are promoting ties with consumer loan companies to ensure that new students can afford the tuition and that existing students are not delinquent in payments. These steps are being taken partly at the request of students themselves. While there are advantages to these ties, some are warning that it is not advisable for universities to encourage students to get in debt to companies in that sector.
