Kyushu University Forms Comprehensive Partnership with Taiwan’s TSMC

Kyushu University has entered into a comprehensive partnership with TSMC, the global leader in semiconductor manufacturing from Taiwan, following the construction of TSMC’s first Japanese semiconductor factory in Kumamoto. Effective from April 1, the memorandum covers collaborative research and workforce development. Kyushu University aims to leverage this alliance to address the shortage of semiconductor experts in Japan, with initiatives including scholarships, joint projects, and employment opportunities in Taiwan for students. Vice President Masaharu Shiratani of Kyushu University expressed aspirations to produce top semiconductor talent domestically, aiming to supply about one-third of the industry’s new experts annually from Kyushu University.
