Kyushu University president outlines research priorities

Kyushu University’s new president, Koichi Akashi, outlined his plans at an Oct. 2 news conference. The 66-year-old Kurume native began a six-year term on Oct. 1, running through September 2032. He plans new teams to improve university management and streamline teaching and research operations. The university will add five interdisciplinary research fields, including semiconductors and photonic quantum technology. These will complement its existing priorities in decarbonization, medical care and health, and the environment and food. Source: NHK News / RKB News
