Kyushu Women’s University Students to Do Fieldwork in Depopulated Villages

Thirty students from the Kyushu Women’s University in Kitakyushu will spend September in Assabu-cho, Hokkaido, doing field work on depopulated areas. They will study local social welfare services and dietary culture, and try to develop ideas for revitalizing the area. It is unusual for a Japanese university to study depopulation, and the residents of the town are said to be looking forward to their visit.
