The Mojiko Retro Beer factory has revived Kyushu’s oldest beer. Sakura Beer returned to the shelves on March 30 and sold at ¥540 per bottle. The Imperial Brewery produced the alcoholic beverage from 1913 to 1942. A limited version of the beer was reintroduced into the market for 12 months in 2012 to commemorate 100 years since the beginning of the Taisho period (1912-1926). An official from nearby JR Mojiko Station, which was first established in the Taisho era and recently reopened to the public, encouraged people to think about how the Moji area might have looked in the olden days while enjoying a glass of Sakura Beer under the cherry blossoms.
