Kyushu’s Rainy Season Begins

The Japan Meteorological Agency announced the rainy season (tsuyu) began yesterday morning (6/2) in Kyushu: six days later than last year, but three days earlier than average. Generally, rainy season ends around 7/19 in Northern Kyushu and 7/14 in the South. As for the intensity of this year’s tsuyu, predictions indicate slightly less rain than usual during June, and slightly harder rains than usual for July. Rain and overcast weather is expected to continue for the remainder of this week. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 6/3
