Kyushu’s Seven Cruise Ship Ports Agree to Collaborate

Seven port cities in the Kyushu-Yamaguchi area have partnered for more growth in tourism. Answering to the call from Fukuoka City, the cities of Kitakyushu, Sasebo (Nagasaki), Yatsushiro (Kumamoto), Beppu (Oita), Nichinan (Miyazaki) and Shimonoseki (Yamaguchi) will work hand-in-hand to promote tourism in the area. Cruise tourists usually arrive in large numbers and the cities they use face similar challenges including congestion. Know-how and systems will be shared amongst member cities to solve issues. Ports in Kyushu had seen a slight decrease in the number of cruisers in 2018. Source: Nikkei Shimbun, 1/30/2019
