According to a quarterly land price report for major commercial and residential districts issued by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) on July 1, 99 of 150 locations, or 19 more than last year, experienced price increases. This is the most recorded increases since more than 80% of locations increased in value in the 4th quarter of 2007. No changes were recorded at 41 locations, while prices for nine locations decreased. Out of 106 commercial districts nationwide, only two—the Hakata Station area and Musashi-Kosugi (Kawasaki City, Kanagawa)—recorded increases for nine straight quarters. Other local districts that recorded increases include Ohori, Fukuoka City (residential; three consecutive quarters) and Tenjin (commercial; two consecutive quarters). Nishinippon Shimbun Aug. 28
