Large Fire at Tanga Market in Kitakyushu

In the early morning of the 19th, a fire broke out at Tanga Market in Kitakyushu City, destroying 42 stores, but no injuries were reported. According to the fire department, smoke was reported at around 2:40 a.m. on April 19. More than 20 fire trucks and other vehicles were dispatched to extinguish the fire. Known as “Kitakyushu’s kitchen” and a popular tourist attraction, the aging wooden structure has become a problem in terms of disaster prevention and fire prevention.
