“Lawson Smartphone Pay” went into service at 19 shops in the Kyushu area on Feb. 22. Customers can scan barcodes on the products using their own smartphones and pay online either with a credit card or by using Apple Pay, LINE Pay or Rakuten Pay. Then read the QR code that appears on your screen at the checkout device located near the exit. Lawson initially introduced the system at shops in Tokyo in April 2018. According to the company, the service will be expanded to forty-three shops across the country including 17 in Fukuoka and 1 each in Kumamoto and Nagasaki will be the end of March 2019.
