Yanagawa City announced a project proposal to introduce lights along its river punting canals. To enhance the appeal, the city had communicated with residents and experts in planning how to light up the four-kilometer route at night. The city aims to create “a route that narrates a story” for nighttime river punting and increase the number of guests who stay overnight in the town. The lights will be installed by the completion of the extended cruising canals in 2024. Source: Asahi Shimbun 13/12/2019
