ACROS Fukuoka has published a guidebook called “Famous Castles of Fukuoka Prefecture”. It is the seventh book in the Culture Reader series, which showcases local culture, history and customs. The guidebook contains photos and information on approximately 60 castles in the Prefecture, running the gamut from ancient and medieval castles to larger castles of later eras, such as Fukuoka Castle and Kokura Castle. Hideo Hattori, a professor of medieval Japanese history at Kyushu University, edited the volume which was co-authored by nine experts. The 160-page book retails for ¥1,890 (including tax) and is available at most major bookstores in the prefecture. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun, May 15.
