The Nishinippon Shimbun reports that more local governments in the region are providing details on budget formulation on their websites. The practice has been growing for the past five years as both Saga Prefecture and Kumamoto City began disclosure starting with their initial budgets for FY 2004. The objective of the governments is to provide transparency to the budget process and to share information with the citizens.
