Principle, a venture company based in Chuo-ku, has launched Smart Room Security, a home security service for single women. The service, which costs ¥500 per month, immediately sends emergency e-mails to a user’s friends and family when an intruder breaks in and trips a motion sensor installed on the door. For an extra ¥480 per month, users can also have guards from Principle’s security contractor, Nishi K, automatically alerted when an alarm is sounded. An additional ¥5,000 is billed for each home visit. Initial installation is only ¥10,000, which makes the service a low-cost alternative to general home security systems that cost several tens of thousands of yen to install and several thousand yen per month.
