Low Expectations for Bonuses


The Fukuoka City-based Nishi-Nippon City Bank announced the results of a survey of 480 housewives in Fukuoka Prefecture regarding summer bonuses. A total of 18.4% of the respondents expected lower bonuses from those in the past, an increase from last year of 5.4 percentage points. The percentage of housewives who planned to put the money in savings accounts rose to 54.4%, and the answers in this category have now increased every year since the survey began in 1994. The second-most popular choice was travel and leisure, selected by 37.1% of the respondents, an increase of 4.7 percentage points from the previous year.
