Major Snowfall Expected in Fukuoka, Including Plains

The strongest cold front of the season is forecasted to bring heavy snowfall to Fukuoka Prefecture from late on January 8. Mountainous areas will experience snow from the night, while plains are expected to see significant accumulation between the evening of January 9 and the morning of January 10.

Snowfall predictions indicate up to 10 cm in mountainous areas and 3 cm in plains over the first 24-hour period. An additional 5 cm in mountainous areas and 3 cm in plains is forecasted for the subsequent 24 hours.

Authorities urge caution for hazardous road conditions due to snow accumulation and ice, advising residents to avoid unnecessary outings. Winter tires are strongly recommended for those needing to travel. Updates on weather and road conditions should be closely monitored, as highway and national road closures are possible. Source: NHK
