Late on December 18, a man assaulted a convenience store owner in Chikuzen Town, Fukuoka Prefecture, after being confronted for shoplifting gloves. The police are investigating the incident as a robbery and searching for the suspect.
The incident occurred at 11:30 p.m. at a convenience store in Asahi, Chikuzen Town. The suspect, described as a slightly overweight male in his teens, approximately 165–170 cm tall, wearing black clothing, was stopped by the male owner in the parking lot after pocketing the gloves without paying. During the altercation, the suspect punched the owner in the face and fled on a bicycle. The owner was not injured.
