Mentaiko Maker Yamaya Relocates, Plans Tourist Hub

Yamaya Communications (Fukuoka City), a spicy cod roe company, announced on the 22nd that they will relocate their headquarters to a new location in Sasaguri Town, Fukuoka Prefecture, on April 15. The four factories, previously dispersed in Fukuoka City’s Higashi Ward, will also be relocated and consolidated. They plan to set up factory tours and a food court, as well as accommodate tourists. Artificial intelligence (AI) will be used to automatically sort raw salted cod roe, automate weighing, replenishment, and packaging. They will also install biogas power generation facilities to make effective use of waste. Envisioning it as a tourist hub, they will set up a shop and a place where visitors can experience soaking mentaiko. They plan to open to the general public in mid-July.
