Mitsubishi Electric has announced plans to manufacture and distribute new low-power semiconductors. The devices were designed by Mitsubishi’s Fukuoka-based Power Device Factory and will be manufactured at the same site. The company began selling three kinds of SiC (silicon carbide)-based diodes in 2017. They have developed five new types of high voltage diodes, which can be used in solar power equipment and chargers for electric vehicles. Samples will be available from June this year. The aim is to then introduce the products into the marketplace in January 2020. Source: Nikkei Shimbun, 3/28/2019
