Miyaki Town in Saga Prefecture will begin a new type of “kodomo shokudo” (children’s cafeteria) service. In collaboration with the Fukuoka-based startup Gigi, it will gather donations from people who are willing to pay for meals to be provided to children living in financial difficulty. Gigi has launched its own application Gochimeshi to coordinate free meals in Fukuoka in June, and its system will be used in the new “kodomo shokudo” in Miyaki. Source: Asahi Shimbun, 8/17/2019
