A survey by the Fukuoka branch of Teikoku Data Bank revealed that 9% of companies in Kyushu and Okinawa area have female leaders as of April 2019. The figure has risen by 1.8% compared to that of a decade ago. Also, it has exceeded the national average of 7.86%. More than half of those female presidents and CEOs have taken over their family business, while one-third of them have founded companies by themselves.
