A report by the Kyushu Productivity Center showed that 18.8% of business organizations in Kyushu allowed their employees to have side jobs in 2021. The increase of 7.8% from the year before partially attributed to the economic impact of the new coronavirus pandemic, as more than half of such organizations admitted workers’ needs to earn extra income. Companies that prohibited workers from having second jobs pointed out the risks of overworking and so forth. The survey was conducted from November 2021 to December 2021, and 261 companies responded.
