Mother Compels Daughter into Prostitution, Duo Arrested

A 46-year-old mother residing in Shime town and a 42-year-old company employee, a known associate of hers, were arrested on allegations of forcing the woman’s daughter into prostitution. They are suspected of exploiting multiple clients and informing the girl that there was no other way to earn money.

The suspects are the self-proclaimed cleaning worker living in Shime town and her acquaintance, a corporate employee in Kasuya town, Mr. Shoji Tsukiji (42), making a total of two arrests.

According to the police, the cleaning worker had reportedly told her then 20-year-old daughter in December of last year that “there’s no choice because there’s no money” and “this is the only way to earn money.” Over time, leading up to February this year, she is suspected of forcing her daughter into prostitution with multiple clients, raising suspicions of a violation of the Prostitution Prevention Law.

The police started to investigate the household environment when they received a 110 emergency call reporting the sound of a child crying from the cleaning worker’s home. During the investigation, the daughter came forward stating she was forced into prostitution.

The duo reportedly solicited clients through online dating site bulletin boards, accepting several tens of thousands of yen per person. The police are investigating in detail under the suspicion that the profits earned by the daughter through prostitution were transferred to the two suspects. The police haven’t disclosed whether the two have admitted or denied the allegations due to potential disruption of the investigation. Source: NHK
