Mt. Aso Erupts – No Injuries Reported

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) raised the warning level for Mt. Aso to three as of October 20. The volcano erupted at 11: 43 on Wednesday, sending volcanic smoke to 3,500 meters in the sky. The agency warns of the risk of large rocks and pyroclastic flows within a radius of about two kilometers around the Nakadake crater. People are required to stay out of those areas. The level 3 warning is in effect for Aso City, Takamori Town, and Minamiaso Village. No injuries and damaged houses had been reported In these areas as of noon on October 20.
