On October 1, the Fukuoka City Subway began testing a multilingual concierge service at Hakata Station. The concierge staff will be on hand to provide information to passengers about fares, routes, local geography, facilities, and events. The team can speak conversational English and have been equipped with a tablet that has translation software installed so that they can help visitors in 40 different languages. The staff are based near the ticket machines and on shift from 9:00 to 19:00 everyday of the week. The success of the initiative will be assessed after the trial finishes at the end of March next year. Source: Fukuoka City Subway, 9/26/2018
